Known Bugs in Marcel
(Version 1.53beta)
These notes assume that you have upgraded to the latest beta version of Marcel. At the current time, this is version 1.53p4 and is available for Ant Suite users to download from Argonet's web site at
http://www.argonet.co.uk/ant/upgrades/
.
Colour selection in 'Display' choices
If you open the colour choices window from the Display options, DO NOT press any keys in the writable icons for the colour RGB values. Pressing a key will crash the task manager and you will need to reset the computer.
Password protected users
If a local user has a password set for their Marcel login, Marcel will give an error message saying that a password is required if the user forgets to enter it in the 'Connect to mail server' window. However, sometimes no error message is given and Marcel will just ignore you, not opening the inbox. This doesn't seem to be reproducable all the time so it might confuse people.
If Marcel appears to just ignore you when you click on the 'Connect' icon, do ensure that you have entered the correct password if one has been set.
OLE file loss
This one confused me at first, but basically concerns Marcel getting confused over it's OLE files when writing a new mail message.
If you start to send a new message (or reply) and click the 'editor' icon to open the text editor window, Marcel creates a temporary file within <Wimp$ScrapDir>.OLEfiles. This will usually be called something like 'mar51b6c8' (but with a different number). If you 'cancel' your message this file will be deleted automatically by Marcel.
However, if you click on the 'load message into editor' icon at the bottom of the message viewer toolbar, Marcel will use the same filename in order to pass the message onto your text editor. Thus, if you subsequently close the text editor window, the scrap file will be deleted - thus also deleting the original reply you may have started typing. This will either result in an error if you click back on 'Editor' or an error when you actually try sending the message.
